Creative Holiday Promotions

Let’s face it, holiday sales and discounts are relatively boring and predictable. Other than deciding how much you will discount your products and which products you will discount, relatively little thought or imagination goes into having a sale – especially a holiday season sale.

With the holidays rapidly approaching, everyone and their dog will be having sales in the coming months. Unless you offer a huge discount on the hottest item of the season, your holiday sale is bound to be fairly run-of-the-mill.

So I challenge you, small business owner, to try something different this year, something fun, something creative, and something that will get your customers buzzing about you.

October Promotion Ideas

Get creative and think of something that will get you remembered. Your sale may be silly, it might be overly generous, you might help a charity or other good cause, but most importantly — get creative and get people talking about you. Remember that the biggest crime in marketing is not being remembered.

If you need a little inspiration, consider celebrating a little-known holiday. There are quite literally dozens of minor holidays this (and every) month that have nothing to do with the traditional holidays. Pick a holiday that somehow relates to your business, and have fun with it!

To get you started, here is a list of interesting and fun October holidays you could choose from:

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15)

Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Pizza Month

National Pasta Month

National Dessert Month

Country Music Month
